Turned-on music to shake your hips & pluck your heartstrings… DC Fontana are on a mission, riding the cusp between scenes & dreams; tumbling, twisting & turning to produce a vibed-up sound that defies those who would pigeon-hole them. DC Fontana’s art & soul is an all-embracing, celebratory thing and they’re building on a red-hot live reputation, with the release of their simply stunning debut album. A limited edition single featuring the hip organ & horns dancer ‘The Contessa’ & the psychedelic stomper ‘Snake Charmer’ had the underground buzzing earlier in 2010 and the band is now set to cause further seismic tremors when the album follows on DCTone Records on August 6, 2010.

With producer Donald Ross Skinner at the helm (Julian Cope, Prolapse, Salad, Cud, Kiosk, etc) the DCs have delivered the kitchen-sink drama “Six Against Eight.” They hid away in a Liverpool culture bunker while regularly sneaking out on the road to back up their reputation as one of the hardest-working live bands around. Encamped at the famous Parr Street Studios on the banks of the River Mersey after being invited to record there by legendary Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant, the group came up with a fascinating collection of mesmerising tunes which showcase them evolving all the time, serving up a sonic stew that manages to stir in morsels of soulful grooves together with blissed-out psychedelic jazz & other-worldly weirdness all glazed with a catchy pop sensibility.

There’s also a fascinating east-meets-west vibe in which the group knocks down the barriers of religious, racial & geographic backgrounds. Orchestral strings sit at ease alongside sitars and other exotic Indian instruments plus the usual DC live sound. The record is mixed by Skinner’s younger brother Gavin (ex-Primal Scream & Marianne Faithful drummer) & dub-stars G Corp while former Smiths & Las producer Mark Wallis mastered it. IT HAS BEGUN…
